OUR ETHOS AND VISION

Muswell Young Musicians offers children the opportunity to learn an instrument, play in an ensemble and attend musicianship classes to support their learning. We are committed to music education and strive to provide an inclusive setting where young people can enjoy high-quality music making and grow as well-rounded musicians.

Students begin their instrumental work in small groups, which promotes high engagement levels and a sense of fun through making music with peers. Our musicianship classes stand at the centre of what we do, and nurture the key skills of pitch, rhythm & pulse, improvisation and musical literacy.

The programme, which draws on the teaching methods of Zoltán Kodály and Émile Dalcroze, maximises the cognitive, social and emotional benefits of music education by developing high-order thinking, team-working skills and meaningful creativity.
